Gookonaanig Endaawaad (Grandmas' House) is a language nest for babies 0 to 5 years old. We are housed on the homelands of The Fond Du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, in north-eastern Minnesota. Gookonaanig Endaawaad brings together families of language learners, elders, and staff to raise first language speakers and revitalize Ojibwe language through a community and family centered approach |
Gookonaanig Endaawaad (Grandmas' House) nest programming for babies 0 to 3 years old is a space where families, babies and staff all participate in Ojibwe immersion together during programming.
Our Ojibwe Immersion Pre-K drop-off program for children ages 3 to 5 runs Tuesday-Friday 7:45 am-4:45 pm. In our classroom, children are fully immersed in Ojibwe as they are guided through educational activities and play. Our program is largely outdoors, which allows children the space to experience the world as they learn our language.

Gookonaanig Endaawaad (Grandma's House) is an Ojibwe immersion drop-off program for families with children between the ages of 3 and 5. Students will be immersed in Ojibwe all day.
Our program is focused on outdoor, land-based learning. Programming will take place outdoors whenever weather permits. We have outdoor clothing and equipment available for children during programming hours.
Families do not need to be fluent in Ojibwe, and will be offered language-learning support opportunities.
This program comes at no cost to families.
