Deadline Extended!!
We are pleased to announce the (FFN) Family, Friends, and Neighbors Ojibwe Immersion Childcare Providers Internship Opportunity!
Applications due May 31st, 2022 by noon.

The Ojibwe Language Program Ojibwemotaadidaa Omaa Gidakiiminaang (OOG) of Fond du Lac Tribal College is pleased to announce that we are seeking candidates for a 10-month paid internship ($25 per hour/20 hours per week), which will provide intensive training and experience in Ojibwe immersion childcare and education to four potential FFN childcare providers. Mileage for travel will be reimbursed, and also lodging and meals for up to two FFN trainees living too far away to commute daily.
What is an FFN provider? An FFN provider is someone who can provide legally unlicensed childcare to families. In partnership with OOG and FDL, the FFN provider will specialize in providing Ojibwe Immersion childcare to families in Minnesota. FFN providers are a frequent choice of care for families of infants and toddlers in diverse cultural communities.
Preparation for each FFN provider will be held at Gookonaanig Endaawaad (Grandma’s House), a parent-elder cooperative for early childhood care and education conducted in Ojibwe-only on the Fond du Lac reservation. Training will include teachings on traditional Ojibwe childcare, tutorials, courses, workshops offered by Child Care Aware, Fond-du-Lac Social Services and OOG elders and staff on topics such as child safety, early child development, Ojibwe language curriculum ages 0-5, Waldorf-based Ojibwe teaching methods, childcare opportunities at Fond du Lac, and information for legally non-licensed and licensed provider status. FFNs completing the preparation will have opportunities to provide Ojibwe immersion childcare for children attending Grandma’s House when the house is closed, for children attending the FDL Ojibwe language Head Start program Waazh, and for children of friends, family and neighbors in the Fond du Lac community.
